STYLE WARS: Legendary documentary showcases at Tribeca Film Festival
May 4, 2003

The Second Annual Tribeca Film Festival (May 3rd - 11th) in New York City will be screening a very special documentary next week. A documentary known primarily by those who are familiar with the art form called graffiti.

In 1983, filmmakers Tony Silver and Henry Chalfant produced Style Wars - the definitive tale on the beginnings of the NYC graffiti phenomena. The filmmakers interviewed numerous artists, city officials and the general public which allowed a non-biased look at this mis-understood art form.

In 2003, Style Wars will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a new two-disc DVD and will be featured at Robert Deniro’s Tribeca Film Fest. The documentary will be screened at the United Artist Battery Park Theaters - 120 North End Avenue (at Vesey St. Westside Highway). The first showing will be on Saturday, May 10th at 10:30pm in the UA 5 theater. The second showing is Sunday, May 11th at 11:30am at the Screening Room - 54 Varick Street (just below Canal Street near Laight).
