Grant plays a Manhattan businessman who's identity gets confused with a would-be agent.

When he is kidnapped and almost murdered, he must resort to his own wits to clear himself of the fiasco. His situation grows worse when he is photographed with a knife over the slain body of a UN diplomat.

His escapades take him on a cross-country pursuit where he must rely on the shady dealings of Eva Marie Saint who may prove to be his savior - or his doom.

TRIVIA

Hitch couldn't get permission to film inside the UN, so footage was made of the UN’s interior using a hidden camera.

James Stewart begged Hitch for the lead but he was "too old." Hitch chose Grant even though MGM wanted Gregory Peck.

Though Landis played Grant's mother in the film, he was actually older (by 10 months).

In the cafe sequence, watch the boy's reaction (in b.g.) right before Grant is shot.
