Just when you thought it was safe to go back ... on eBay.
Don't have any hard stats but it seemed like the CGC craze was waning - slightly. Many CGC books up for auction at eBay weren't receiving bids and many more were receiving fairly low bids. Some were even selling for less than the cost of the slabbing itself. Ouch!
But then along comes this little dandy of a book. This is what you get when you mix one part "CGC craze" with one part "the upcoming movie is going to make me a million" craze.
To the left we have Daredevil #131 NM+ 9.6 (Origin and 1st app. of Bullseye) that recently sold for $968.68! Thanks to the upcoming film, many DD comics have seen a brisk increase in price - especially ones featuring the cast. But ...hello??
Granted, this book is slightly older than the Hall of Shame requirements (Aug 1976) but (for being a key Bronze) it should be recognized. Up until last year, one could easily find this book in NM condition for 5 or 10 bucks. Thanks to the over zealousness of some, the price has bloated to the $25 to $50 range. As history shows, when the movie is long gone and fan interest has waned, these prices will deflate. Then, do yourself a favor, and be sure to pick up a copy.
I'll be posting future CGC graded books that fetch hundreds of dollars which (w/o the slabbing) would only cost a few bucks. If you want to get in on the action, send the URL's of winning bids of outrageous CGC graded books to the webmaster.
